Copyright & IP Policy

Creators on Craft.cool must only publish work they own or have permission to share. We respect copyright and other intellectual property, and we respond to valid notices of infringement.

Reporting infringement

If you believe an item or listing on Craft.cool copies your work without permission, use the copyright report form (the fastest way) or email dmca@craft.cool. Please include:

1. your name and contact details (email, and a postal address or phone number);
2. a description of the work you own (with a link or proof of ownership if you have one);
3. the exact Craft.cool page(s) that infringe it;
4. why the use is not authorised and not covered by an exception (such as fair dealing under Section 52 of the Copyright Act, 1957);
5. a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and that the information is accurate and you are the owner or authorised to act for them;
6. your signature (typing your full name counts).

These points cover what Rule 75 of India's Copyright Rules, 2013 and Section 512(c)(3) of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act ask for.

What we do

1. We acknowledge the notice and check that it is complete.
2. If it is valid, we disable access to the reported material, normally within 36 hours, and tell the creator why.
3. Under Indian law, if the complainant does not give us a court order within 21 days, we may restore the material.
4. We never delete someone's work just because a report arrived; incomplete or clearly wrong reports are rejected with a reason.

Counter-notice

If your item was removed and you believe it was a mistake or you have permission, reply to our notice or email dmca@craft.cool with: your name and contact details, the item that was removed, a statement that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts where you live (or, for US-based reports, a US federal court), and your signature. We pass the counter-notice to the complainant and, unless they start legal proceedings, restore the item after 10 to 14 business days.

Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of creators who repeatedly publish infringing material.

False reports

Knowingly false reports or counter-notices may have legal consequences, and we may refuse further reports from people who abuse the process.
